The MICCAI Open Data Initiative returns for its second edition, continuing its mission to foster collaboration and inclusivity in medical imaging research. As medical machine learning advances, the availability of diverse, representative, and high-quality datasets remains crucial to addressing global healthcare challenges.
This year's Open Data Session emphasizes underrepresented populations and diseases, addressing critical gaps in existing public datasets. The initiative aligns with the principles of FAIR data and Data-centric AI, recognizing that good models begin with good data.
The Open Data Session will feature eight public datasets spanning a range of imaging modalities: CT, MR, Endoscopy, Microscopy, and more. Accepted datasets will be featured in an Oral session as well as during the Poster session.
Today, we welcome Dr. Hieu Pham, Assistant Professor, College of Engineering and Computer Science at VinUniversity as our keynote speaker. Dr. Pham is also a Principal Investigator at the VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center and the Founder and Head of the Computer Vision and Medical AI Lab (CVMAIL) at VinUniversity. He will be speaking on the topic "Open Data for Medical Imaging: Collection, Standardization, and Sharing of Large-Scale Annotated Datasets”.
The session concludes with an indepth panel discussion to explore Open Data and the future of the Initiative at MICCAI conferences.
Plan to attend the Open Data session to engage in discussions on how medical imaging datasets can be shared and utilized to reduce disparities, promote inclusivity, and accelerate innovation in healthcare AI. It will be taking place today from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm in DCC1 - 3F Room 301.
