Theme Special Sessions at MICCAI 2025

Each MICCAI conference offers us an opportunity to explore local perspectives in our field. MICCAI 2025 is proud to present two Theme Special Sessions under the overarching theme of Pan-Asian Connection, highlighting regional innovation and the translational impact of medical AI across Asia. Both sessions take place on today in DCC1 - Room 201/202 (Main Hall).

Special Session 1: Challenges and Opportunities of Medical AI in Asia
Friday, September 26, 13:30-15:00

This session brings together experts from across Asia to share perspectives on advancing healthcare AI in diverse contexts:

Talks will explore real-world deployment of AI solutions, opportunities for collaboration across Asian healthcare systems, and the unique challenges of building generalizable and trustworthy medical AI. The session will conclude with an interactive panel discussion.

Special Session 2: How Government Funding Shapes the AI Ecosystem - The KHIDI Case from Concept to Clinical Translation

This session showcases the pivotal role of government support in accelerating the journey of AI technologies from research concepts to clinical and commercial adoption. Featuring speakers Shin Tae Kang (KHIDI), Semyeong Jang (Coreline Soft), Jaeil Kim (BeamWorks Inc.), Wi-Sun Ryu (JLK AI R&D Center), and Tae Young Shin (Synergy A.I.), the session highlights success stories of Korea's national initiatives and their impact on fostering innovation, commercialization, and patient-centered healthcare solutions.

Together, these Theme Special Sessions emphasize MICCAI's commitment to global collaboration and demonstrate how regional strengths can contribute to the advancement and adoption of medical AI worldwide.
