MICCAI 2025 Young Researcher Excellence Training Program
Call for Program Participants

We are delighted to announce that MICCAI 2025 will feature a new "Young Researcher Excellence Training Program.” The main objective of this online mentoring and small group training initiative is to guide young researchers throughout the entire MICCAI paper preparation process from an author's perspective. Not only with paper experimental design and writing for the main conference or workshops but also with other steps such as poster and oral presentation. With MICCAI 2025 being held in Korea, we particularly encourage participation from the Pan-Asia region, a historically underrepresented area at the MICCAI conference.

Eligibility (Mentee): All students and early career researchers in the MICCAI community, who match the criteria outlined below, are invited to apply. We encourage applications from individuals in South/Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East Asia regions that have been underrepresented at past MICCAI conferences. Priority will be given to applicants from these specified Pan-Asia regions, as spaces are limited.

To be considered as a mentee in this program, the applicant should:

  1. Be a graduate student, postdoc, or early career researcher;
  2. Have research work in progress to be submitted to the MICCAI 2025 main conference or workshops;
  3. Have their research supervisor in the home institution approve their participation as a mentee in this program. Note that the mentors in this program are not expected to be listed as authors in these papers;
  4. Attend webinars, actively participate in discussions, and present their progress while enrolled in the program.

Program: The mentoring activities will kick off in January 2025 and continue until the MICCAI 2025 conference week. The activities include:

  1. Webinars on organizing research and preparing MICCAI papers.
  2. Interactive Q&A sessions and small group mentoring at various stages of main conference submission, rebuttal, workshop paper submission, and presentation preparation.
  3. Progress and final presentations and feedback.
Mentee application (Click here to apply!)
  • December 15, 2024: Deadline for mentee applications (1st group)
  • January 15, 2025: Deadline for mentee applications (2nd group)

Expected outcomes: By completing this online research training program,

  • Mentees will have their papers ready with a potentially increased chance of being accepted
  • Mentees will be better prepared to present their work at conferences.
  • Mentees will have a chance to apply for travel support to Korea (if accepted), pending funding availability.

If you have questions or you are interested in participating as a mentor, please send an email to youngscholars_initiative@miccai2025.org.
