Dear MICCAI 2024 Colleagues,
In a year of many firsts for MICCAI, we're thrilled to welcome so many of you to Marrakesh, Morocco, for the 27th edition of MICCAI Conference! When we first set out to organize the inaugural MICCAI in Africa, we weren't sure what to expect in terms of attendance—so it's truly exciting to see over 2,000 participants filling the conference halls and rooms with energy and enthusiasm.
We're proud to have gathered a global community here, from North America to China, and with a record-breaking representation from Africa! We have a packed agenda of technical and social events arranged for you during the conference and we hope you will have an outstanding conference experience.
This year, in keeping with the innovative spirit of the conference, we have introduced several exciting new elements to the program. We're honored to feature our first-ever keynote speaker from Africa. Additionally, the newly launched "MICCAI for Health Equity" session will spotlight approaches that aim to improve access to healthcare and enhance health outcomes globally. We're also hosting a "Debate on AI" session and a series of industry-sponsored talks. Furthermore, we invite you to attend the special session, "From MICCAI to AFRICAI,” which will take place on Wednesday afternoon, October 9. You can find the full details here!
For many of you, this might be your first time in North Africa, or Africa more generally. Morocco is known for its warmth and hospitality - take the opportunity to explore the local culture, savor traditional dishes like couscous and tagine, and immerse yourself in the stunning surroundings.
