Explore New Frontiers at MICCAI 2024 Satellite Events

Dear MICCAI Community,

We are excited to announce that MICCAI 2024 will be hosting 93 in-person Satellite Events. These include 41 workshops, 42 challenges and 10 tutorials that will be held on October 6 and October 10, in beautiful Marrakesh, Morocco.

Include Satellite Events when you register for MICCAI 2024!

All MICCAI 2024 Satellite Events have been carefully designed to complement the main conference themes, providing an opportunity for a deeper exploration of the diverse and rapidly evolving field of medical image computing and computer-assisted intervention. Proposals have been peer-reviewed to maintain a high scientific standard. Several events have been specifically initiated to reflect the location on the African continent, such as the MICCAI meets Africa Workshop and 10 challenges involving African datasets or Africa-based researchers. As another novel feature, the MICCAI Student Board are running their first own workshop called EMERGE, organized by students for students. These are hopefully the first in a long and successful series of future events.

To accommodate a wide range of exciting topics, ensuring there is something for everyone interested in advancing their knowledge and expertise, all MICCAI 2024 Satellite Events are half-day and in-person sessions.

Here's a glimpse of what you can expect:

Workshops:
  • Cutting-edge technologies - Discover the latest advancements in foundational models for general medical AI and delve into the world of deep generative models and their applications to image synthesis and personalized prediction, among many other medical image computing tasks.
  • Trustworthy AI - Engage in thought-provoking discussions on federated learning, fairness in medical imaging, interpretability, AI ethics, robustness, uncertainty estimation and the imperative need to develop reliable and responsible AI.
  • Intelligent Healthcare Systems - Immerse yourself in the world of clinical image-based procedures, predictive intelligence in medicine, and the exciting use of robotics, and ambient and affective intelligence in computer-assisted interventions.
  • Organ and disease-specific interest groups - Dive into the latest technologies aiming to answer specific clinical questions in neuroimaging, ophthalmology, cardiology, pancreatic disease and numerous forms of cancer.
Challenges:
  • Open science benchmarking environments & datasets - We are excited to notice the increased focus on the fair comparison of both medical image computing and computer assisted intervention algorithms that span across the domains of radiology, histopathology, ophthalmology, and cardiology, while covering workloads of segmentation, registration, classification, detection, tracking, and synthesis.
  • Focus on underserved areas - In line with MICCAI 2024 taking place in Africa for the first time, when compared with previous years, we note a much wider representation from across the globe of both diverse data and challenge organizers.
  • Beyond traditional computational workloads - Further to algorithmic innovation, MICCAI Challenges also thrive for thematic innovation with tasks covering aspects of energy efficiency, image de-identification, safety of AI in clinical environments, and federated learning for both image computing and interventional tasks.
  • Involvement of clinical societies, ensuring real-world impact of computational innovation - New and mature MICCAI challenges are organized this year in partnership with clinically authoritative, federal, and regulatory bodies, including but not limited to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), NIH (National Institutes of Health), RSNA (Radiological Society of North America), RANO (Response Assessment in Neuro-Oncology), ASNR (American Society for Neuro-Radiology), EORTC (European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer), EAES (European Association for Endoscopic Surgery), and SAGES (Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons).
Tutorials:
  • Latest developments in deep learning technologies - Lectures covering state-of-the-art-topics including foundational models, graph neural networks, and implicit neural representations.
  • Intersection of deep learning and computational anatomy / physiology - Tutorials on shape modeling, physics-inspired neural networks, and new resources for the community.
  • New challenges stemming from new acquisition technology - A deep dive into low-field MRI and the challenges it brings to the community.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced resources - Guidance from experts on state-of-the-art tools for advanced medical image analysis, as well as federated learning for scaling up neural network training while respecting institutional boundaries.

We look forward to welcoming you to Marrakesh for an unforgettable experience at MICCAI 2024. Let's come together and explore new innovations in medical image computing and intervention!
