The 2022 MICCAI conference will be held in Resort World Convention Centre Singapore. The conference will host a variety of satellite events including workshops, challenges, and tutorials. Workshops have become essential components of MICCAI conferences, particularly as the field has undergone steady growth and has expanded into a diverse set of areas. These events attract a large number of participants, offering opportunities to both the organizers and the attendees.
The workshops will take place on September 18th and September 22nd 2022. All events will be located at the main conference venue. Each workshop may be organized as a half-day (8:00am-12:30pm, or 1:30pm-5:00pm) or a full-day (8:00am-5:00pm) meeting.
The deadline for submission of workshop proposals is 20 December 2021. Notifications of the first round of acceptance, revision, or rejection will be sent on 5 February 2022. In the case of a revision, applicants will be asked to revise their proposals based on complementary or significantly overlapping proposals and suggestions and resubmit. The deadline for revised proposals is 15 February 2022. Final decisions on revised proposals will be 25 February 2022.
The proposals for all workshops must be submitted through the submission system (see the link far below in the Submission Details section) which has a structured set of questions. Applicants are encouraged to discuss inter-relationships with other workshops.
Proposals will be evaluated using several criteria, including the expected number of participants, the complementarity of the topics to be addressed, and their relevance to the conference. Workshop organizers are expected to articulate a plan detailing the management of all administrative aspects including:
- Construction of an independent website for their workshop.
- Management of advertising and promotion of the workshop.
- Management of the paper/result submission (where relevant).
- Organization of an evaluation process independently (in line with outlined procedures).
- Preparation of soft-copy proceedings as either an independent volume or a joint volume produced for a collection of events at MICCAI 2022 (where relevant, see below).
- Preparation of electronic (pdf) versions of papers and the program, and submission of these materials to the MICCAI 2022 Workshops Committee for distribution to registered participants.
The submission process will be formalized to ensure uniformity. Workshop applicants must complete the submission form found here: https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/MICCAIW2022.
Due to limited availability of rooms, and to ensure relevance to the conference, submitted workshop proposals will be evaluated and selected. Each section of the proposal form will be evaluated during the selection process. Examples of selection criteria are:
- Expected level of the MICCAI audience's interest in the topic of the workshop. Emergent subjects will be favorably considered.
- Quality of the organization and the planned review process for the workshop.
- Feasibility, concreteness, balance, and solidity of the plan, schedule, and management of the workshop, including proceedings arrangement.
Please note that if the number of registered participants for an accepted workshop is less than 20, we reserve the rights to cancel or merge it with other workshops.
Authors will assign to the MICCAI Society the right to distribute the workshop material to MICCAI members and to workshop and conference attendees, independently of the copyright ownership planned by the workshop organizers. It is up to the workshop organizers to obtain corresponding agreement of the authors.
It is entirely up to workshop organizers whether and how to publish a proceedings volume of the presentations. At the very least, abstracts of all presentations should be made available. Accepted full papers may be disseminated independently (for example via arXiv) or in joint proceedings of MICCAI 2022 satellite events published by Springer Nature in their Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. In the latter case, notice that the publisher imposes limitations on the number of names that will be listed as the workshop organizers, especially for volumes with a small number of papers. The deadline for submitting the camera-ready LNCS proceedings materials (including the papers and copyright forms) is 30 July 2022.
Unfortunately, MICCAI 2022 cannot afford to cover travel arrangements or stipends for the organizers of workshops, nor provide concessions on registration fees.
The MICCAI 2022 Satellite Events Committee has limited funds for waiving the registration fees for a number of speakers, including those from outside the MICCAI community. Organizers should send a request for registration fee waiver to email@example.com with justification for their request. Organizers and speakers who plan to attend only their own/participating workshop are still expected to register for the event unless registration fee waivers have been requested and granted.

Workshop Proposal Submission Form
- Organizing Team
List the names and the affiliations of the people who organize and are responsible for the workshop. (max. 1000 characters)
- Workshop Description
Provide a detailed description of the specific subject that will be addressed in the workshop. Note that a MICCAI workshop should provide a discussion forum focusing on a specific sub-topic of the MICCAI scope or promote novel areas of research within the MICCAI scope. Also note that workshops with overlapping topics may be asked to merge. (max. 8000 characters)
Indicate whether the workshop should be a full-day event or a half-day event.
- Expected Numbers
Provide the expected number of submissions and attendees and explain the basis of your estimate (e.g. numbers from previous workshops), and/or provide a list of potential participants, and/or indicate if they have already confirmed their willingness to submit. An important factor for a successful workshop is a sufficient number of paper submissions and attendees. (max. 500 characters)
- Background Information
If this is a continuation of previous workshop(s), provide a brief summary of these previous workshop(s) and a rationale for continuation or ideas for improvements. (max. 1000 characters)

Indicate your commitment to ensure balance in your workshop. MICCAI is committed to improving equality, diversity, and inclusion, though without compromising scientific excellence. Describe how reasonable efforts will be made to this end, both in the organizing team and the program of the workshop. (max. 1000 characters)
- Review Process
Provide a plan to ensure that the workshop will adhere to high academic review standards and explain how possible conflicts of interest will be mitigated. (max. 1000 characters)

- Specific Requirements
Indicate whether you have specific requirements or need hardware, technical equipment, or support (e.g. a projector, computer, monitors, loudspeakers, microphones). (max. 500 characters)
