One of the best ways to experience an unfamiliar city is through running. Working with local volunteers, we will plan two runs, offering the chance to connect with other attendees through exercise. Runs will start at the convention center, which is located conveniently on the Seawall Water Walk, a pedestrian space along the waterfront, and head toward Stanley Park. Runs will be approximately 5 km and conclude by 8 A.M., giving attendees a chance to get ready for the conference.
The traditional MICCAI soccer game will return this year. It will take place on a full-size soccer field on the University of British Columbia campus, specifically the Thunderbird Athletic Park. A 20 minute drive from the convention center, this park offers multiple full-size fields with both grass and turf options. A 2-hour slot will be reserved for approx. Participants will be transported to and from the event by a charter bus.
The Forbidden Vancouver tour brings you back to the 1920s. A time when the negative effects of the prohibition had their full impact. At that time, Vancouver was a hotspot for crime, prostitution, and gambling. The streets were full of crime and corrupt police officers, making Vancouver a different, more dangerous city than it is today. On the Forbidden Vancouver Tour, you'll walk the alleyways and back streets where it all went down to discover the real story of the city.
Vancouver is a wonderful city that provides a lot of culture and history. During the tour, we will walk around all the city highlights to fully learn about the culture and experience the renowned locations - from Gastown to Stanley Park. At the end of the tour, we will have a nice (paid for individually) dinner together.
